The house is located in a busy downtown part of Reykjavík with many services, shops and restaurants within easy reach between the two main shopping streets, Laugavegur and Skólavörðustígur. Nearly four hundred shops are to be found in this part of Reykjavik and nowhere in Iceland will you find a more diverse selection of trade including local original art and designs. Many shops offer a very personal service with owners and designers themselves attending to customers.

Cultural centers are to be found in abundance within walking distance in this part of town, The National Theatre, The National Centre for Cultural Heritage, the award winning Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, The Reykjavik City Library, The National Gallery, The National Museum and Bíóparadís (Cinema Paradise). Crossroad House is situated between the two most popular and long standing bookshops of Reykjavik, Mál og menning and Eymundsson and a very short distance from diverse food and delicatessen stores. Many very popular cafés are a stone´s throw away. The renowned Icelandic swimming pools and gyms are withhin walking distance and recreational parkland, the harbour and seaside walk and cycling paths nearby.

Numerous schools and universities are also to be found close to Crossroad House, University of Iceland, Reykjavík University and The Icelandic Academy of the Arts along with two prominent grammar schools, The Reykjavik Junior College and the Reykjavik Girl´s College. The house is close to transport links including Reykjavik Airport and the Bus Terminal and within 10 minutes walking distance the National Hospital will be rejuvenated within the next few years.

The city centre has proven to be a very popular and bustling place for the Reykjavik population to enjoy and meet in when celebrating, be it Independence Day 17 June, The Winter Festival or the annual Cultural Night in August where tens of thousands flock to the city centre and enjoy themselves in a broad spectrum of entertainment from midday to midnight.
