Trausti Thor Sverrisson founded the company Efri-Vegamot for the purpose of building a new house on his family grounds in central Reykjavik, exploring new territory after careers in education and media. The present house, which will be part of the new project, was bought newly built by his great grandfather in 1906 and the family has lived there ever since, now six generations.

After completing his master‘s degree in mathematics education with distinction from Reykjavik University he took up headteachership and is now a mathematics teacher in London where he lives with his wife, Marcella Martinelli-Sverrisson. In radio he has done editorial, programme and managerial work and has presented many live television broadcasts, mainly relating to classical music.

Trausti Thor has two children, Julia Margaret, who completed her BMus (Hons) degree from The Royal College of Music in 2011 and Olafur Sverrir, student of music and sound engineering. Furthermore, Trausti Thor has a stepson, Johann Meunier, living in Paris. Their mother, Dora Kondrup, died 4 July 2006. The family has set up a foundation, for the benefit of young Icelanders who are keen to continue their art studies in France, in co-operation with the Icelandic Arts Academy and the French embassy where Dora worked for more than two decades and helped many a young person who wanted to study in France. Grants were given for the first time in 2008.
